Last night, all I wanted was to run out to Kake Kreations (www.kakekreations.com) and bask in the smell of the store and let my imagination run wild with ideas of the confection and baking goodies I want to make. All to no avail. There was no candy making or baking going on last night, instead it is happening today.
I should formally introduce you to my little boy, Evan. He is the love of my life (you know, in addition to my husband....of course) and who will be a regular topic of conversation, I am sure.
Based on what I have said above, I will tell you that I love to bake and I am just learning to work with chocolate in candymaking and molding. I will happily do almost anything creative as this has taken on many forms in my life from knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, photography and more. Right now I am pretty focused on talents in the kitchen. Heck, I have been a mortgage broker for the past nearly 20 years. Right now, that is not a happy topic. Cake, NOW that is a happy topic...add chocolate to that conversation and there is absolute robust joy! What more could anyone want??
So while I was up stairs blow drying my hair this morning, Evan came downstairs to color. A bit later I called out to him to check on what specifically he was doing (now, remember I just told you that I am learning about chocolate candy making..), he met me at the base of the stairs to tell me that the spoon was stuck in the chocolate. Upon closer inspection, I noticed chocolate around his mouth. (see photo)
With that bit of information, I knew that there was more to this story (see additional photos)as he was very distressed that the spoon was so "STUCK". My silly boy, oh and did I mention that he has a dentist appointment this morning. Humph, chocolate for breakfast, Dr. Suzi will love that. The breakfast of champions, right!!??
Today, I am making cupcakes for Evan's Halloween party at school tomorrow and baking a 1st Birthday cake for a good friends son. All that is well and good and in addition, for dinner I am making spinach ravioli. You can alter the recipe and include the chicken as it was originally written (I do not because I do not mix milk and meat) so for my use I will omit it. I saw this recipe made on, yes you guessed FOOD Network (my favorite station) and thought it looked good. This recipe is courtesy of Michael Chiarello.(http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/michael-chiarello/mamas-old-fashioned-ravioli-recipe/index.html)
Well, it appears that I actually do have a lot to do so I am off to cook and bake and get some other necessary work done before my little man AND the big man come home. Photos to follow of the treats made today and possibly of dinner as well. Oh, happy day!
