This past month flew by. We had many new cakes and several of them were 1st's for Yummy! Michelle has become a MORE than welcome constant in the Yummy world!! Much of this I suppose I could do by myself but it is so much more fun creating with her. I am blessed.
Again, I just have to post pictures because if I went through all the deatils of each cake...you would be reading for days. Here goes, a feast for your eyes!
Al Anon slogan chocolate bars!
So, this is truly a FAVORITE!!! When Michelle and I were done with this cake we were giddy with excitement. This was so much fun to make and we were thrilled with the outcome. This was ordered by my friend Sara for her Mom, Paula for her birthday. Paula ownes a jewelry store (http://www.alefbet.com/) and they joke that there is nothing left to buy her than a BIG diamond! Here is to a wonderful Birthday celebration!
See the sparkle!!
Oooooooo, ahhhhhhhh!
Michelle and I in the kitchen as always. What a gift to have found her and re-connected after all these years (we have actually known one another since elementary school, went to school together all through Jr. High and High school as well!) and to find that we have SOOOO much in common. There are things in life that are meant to be and us being frineds in one of them and working together is another...I love you Michelle!
Tiffany's Barn themed cake! Michelle and I had a blast doing this special cake for my friend Peggy's daughters 1st Birthday. Tiffany even had her own special smash cake just for her. We hope Tiffany had a wonderful 1st Birthday and that Mommy and Daddy created some amazing memories! Here are more photos of this Yummy cake!
LOVE the piggy in the mud! Michelle is AMAZING at working with fondant and gum paste to make it look so fantastic.
Then there was the totally fun and all BOY flame cake for our little buddy Gage! Happy 2nd Birthday!
Then there was the round of Birthday cakes for Teachers at Evan's school! We NEVER get tired of Birthday cakes around here!
Princess Jen Cake!
So, I had not really planned on doing HOURS of hand beading with all these pearls....but you have to do what you have to do to make these beautiful. I kept looking at it and it was just not right until the crown was all covered and the pillow top of the cake was covered and quilted. I was really pleased when this was done and Jen was so excited and surprised. Everything was edible, the crown, the jewels....everything!
Then there was our first TWILIGHT cake for Bita's Birthday! This was to be a wonderful surprise that Maryam had done for her daughter's birthday. We had a lot of fun with this as well. Michelle did all the BEAUTIFUL roses and together we created this amazing cake for Bita's special day!
We also had a blast with a beautiful unicorn cake for another special Birthday celebration. Happy Birthday Sofia!
When this was done I fell in love with this unicorn's face. It turned out so sweet and I later found out that Sofia saved it and it is still in the freezer at home (FYI~this will last if you take it out and let it just dry out!!).
Then there was the VERY fun camping grooms cake. Jen (the princess cake) got married on Mother's Day weekend and she presented her husband with this special cake signifying their love of camping..(and his special love of a head-lamp)....
This was a chocolate, chocolate chip cake with espresso and mocha buttercream fillling and forsting. It was so delicious, a new flavor at Yummy! Whoo-hoo!!
This next cake is very special to me. I have said many times that cakes are happy and that traditionally people oorder cakes for happy occasions, not funerals. This was a cake to celebrate the life of my best friend Nancy's amazing father Joe Serino. I was honored to create this special cake that made them all laugh and chuckle at something that their Father, Friend, Uncle, Husband and Brother loved....horse racing.
I am calling these cakes Memory Cakes! A funeral can be an amazing moment in time when we really have the ability to celebrate someone important to us. We all have many options of way's we can honor these important people and celebrate them and....hey, you gotta eat~ why not a cake!
As I have said prior I am honored to be a part of you lives, and this cake especially as it was our first Momory cake and that just made it ex-tra special. We all miss you Joe!
Every holiday deserves it's own special cake and this Mother's Day, this was the special cake from Yummy!
The heart in the center is a white chocolate jewel box that the roses are sitting in. The roses were all done by Michelle and I did the chocolate work. This was a special cake for a group of very special Mommies!
This next cake was a labor of love for our amazing neighbor. "Papa" Paulo turned 97 a few weeks ago and as our gift to this fantastic man and his family we made a cake. Papa was a child prodgey violin player and wrote countless songs. We wanted to honor him and the beautiful history and music he has created. This was the "Violin Cake and sheet music of his original score!!"
Papa and our lovely and oh so dear friend Suzanne!
Papa and I ....
So, whew....there it is for the moment. Consider yourself up to date with much more to come. We have a few REALLY fun cakes coming up this month that are stretching our imagination and our skills to the limit (oh, how we love that!) so please keep calling up with your ideas as we always say YES to a new challange!
May you have a Yummy day!
Love,
Heather
